Fitting doors at work

Commercial Fire Door Installation London: Built for Busy Sites

Doors that take a beating

Workplace doors can open thousands of times a week. They need heavy-duty closers, strong hinges and frames fixed firmly to the wall.

Commercial fire door installation means choosing doorsets made for that kind of use, then fitting them exactly as tested.

Linking doors to your systems

Many office fire doors have card readers, mag-locks or hold-open devices. These must release the door the moment the fire alarm sounds.

We work with your security and alarm contractors, so each new door is linked and tested before handover.

FAQ

Commercial Fire Door Installation Questions

What facilities and project managers ask before fitting new fire doors.

Ask about fitting doors at work07760 499 014

How much does it cost to fit a fire door in an office?

A supplied and fitted FD30 doorset usually costs £550–£950, before VAT. FD60 doorsets are around £800–£1,300. Access control, glazing and heavy-duty hardware can add to this. Ordering more doors lowers the cost of each. We give you a fixed price after surveying the site.

Do commercial fire doors need heavy-duty closers?

On busy doors, yes. A light domestic closer will wear out quickly on an office or shop door. We size each closer to the door and the traffic it takes, so it keeps working for years. Heavy-duty closers also stay in adjustment for longer, which means fewer service visits.

Can fire doors have access control?

Yes. Card readers and mag-locks can be fitted to fire doors, as long as they release when the fire alarm sounds. We work with your security contractor to link and test every door. If your security system is being changed at the same time, we can plan the two jobs together.

Can you fit fire doors while we are open?

We usually fit out of hours, at night or at weekends, so staff and customers are not disturbed. Escape routes are kept open throughout, and each door is working before the building reopens. If a door must be changed during the day, we screen off the work area and keep a safe route open.

What rating do commercial fire doors need?

Most office doors are FD30. Doors to stair cores, plant rooms and lift shafts may need FD60. Your fire risk assessment or fire strategy sets the rating for each door. You cannot tell a door’s rating by looking at it. Check the label or ask us to confirm it.

Do you supply O&M information?

Yes. For fit-outs and refurbishments, we supply labels, photos, fitting records and maker’s data for your operation and maintenance (O&M) files. This makes it easier for your facilities team to service and inspect the doors in future.

Can you work with our main contractor?

Yes. We often fit fire doors as part of a wider fit-out, working to the main contractor’s programme and site rules. We can also supply and fit doors directly to you if there is no main contractor.

How long does it take to fit commercial fire doors?

A single doorset takes around a day. A full floor can often be done over a few nights. We give you a programme with dates before work starts. If the doors need to be made to size, allow a few weeks for delivery before fitting starts.

What happens to the old doors?

We clear them from site for you. Removal is included in every fitting price, so there is nothing extra to arrange. Where we can, timber and metal parts are recycled rather than sent to landfill.

Can glazed fire doors be fitted in offices?

Yes. Many offices use glazed fire doors to let light through and help people see who is coming. The glass must be fire rated and fitted with the right beads and seals, as shown in the door’s test evidence.
